Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Drive from Rishikesh to Joshimath
Distance : 250 kms | Time : (8–9 hrs)
Start your journey early in the morning from Rishikesh and enjoy a scenic drive to Joshimath, a famous Himalayan town and base for many treks. The route passes through the beautiful river valleys of Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Karnaprayag, where you witness stunning confluences of sacred rivers. Drive alongside the Alaknanda River with mesmerizing mountain views throughout the journey. Arrive in Joshimath by evening, check-in to your hotel, enjoy dinner, and rest overnight while preparing for the trek ahead.
Day 2: Joshimath to Dhak Village Drive + Trek to Gulling Camp
Distance : 12 kms (Drive) + 5 kms (Trek) | Time : 4–5 hrs
After breakfast, drive a short distance to Dhak village, the starting point of the Pangarchulla trek. Begin your trek through terraced fields, small mountain settlements, and dense forests of oak and rhododendron. The trail gradually ascends with beautiful views of the surrounding valleys. Reach Gulling campsite by afternoon, a peaceful meadow surrounded by Himalayan forests. Spend the evening enjoying the fresh mountain air and starry skies.
Day 3: Gulling to Khullara Camp
Distance : 4–5 kms | Time : 4–5 hrs
Today’s trek takes you deeper into the alpine zone. Walk through thick rhododendron forests and open meadows with occasional glimpses of snow peaks. As you gain altitude, the landscape becomes more scenic and adventurous. Arrive at Khullara Camp, one of the most beautiful campsites of the trek, offering stunning views of Mt. Dronagiri and surrounding ranges. Rest well, as the next day is the summit attempt.
Day 4: Summit Day – Khullara to Pangarchulla Peak and Back
Distance : 10–12 kms | Time : 10–12 hrs
This is the most challenging and exciting day of the trek. Start early before sunrise for the steep climb to Pangarchulla Summit. The trail involves snow patches, rocky ridges, and steep ascents, making it a thrilling adventure. After hours of climbing, reach the Pangarchulla Peak (4,700m), where you are rewarded with breathtaking 360-degree views of Himalayan giants like Nanda Devi, Chaukhamba, Hathi Ghoda, and Trishul. Spend some time at the top capturing unforgettable memories, then descend carefully back to Khullara campsite by evening.
Day 5: Khullara to Dhak Trek + Drive Back to Joshimath
Distance : 10 kms (Trek) + 12 kms (Drive) | Time : 6–7 hrs
After breakfast, begin your descent through forests and mountain trails back to Dhak village. The downhill walk is scenic and relaxing, passing through beautiful villages and lush greenery. Upon reaching Dhak, drive back to Joshimath. Check-in at the hotel, enjoy a hot meal, and relax after the successful trek.
Day 6: Drive from Joshimath to Rishikesh
Distance : 250 kms | Time : (8–9 hrs)
After breakfast, drive back to Rishikesh with wonderful memories of the Pangarchulla Peak adventure. The return journey offers the same scenic river valleys and Himalayan landscapes. Arrive by evening, marking the end of this thrilling summit trek.
