Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Drive from Dehradun to Sankri
Distance : 200 kms | Time : (8–9 hrs)
Start your adventure early in the morning from Dehradun and embark on a picturesque 190 km drive to Sankri. The route takes you through lush valleys, charming hill stations, and alongside rivers like Yamuna and Tons. En route, pass through scenic towns such as Mussoorie, Purola, and Mori. The final stretch through Govind National Park offers breathtaking views of the forests and foothills of the Himalayas. Arrive in Sankri by late afternoon or evening. Sankri is a quaint mountain village and the base for many treks in the region. Check-in to your hotel or guesthouse, enjoy a hot meal, and relax for the night amidst peaceful Himalayan surroundings.
Day 2: Sankri to Seema via Taluka (Drive + Trek)
Distance : 12 kms (Drive) + 10 kms (Trek) | Time : 6–7 hrs
After breakfast, drive to Taluka, the trek starting point. Begin trekking through dense forests, wooden bridges, and riverside trails. Enjoy beautiful views of the Supin River and small villages along the way. Reach Seema by late afternoon and relax at the campsite.
Day 3: Seema to Har Ki Dun Valley
Distance : 12 kms | Time : 6–7 hrs
Today’s trek takes you deeper into the legendary Har Ki Dun Valley. Walk through alpine meadows, pine forests, and scenic landscapes with stunning mountain views. Reach Har Ki Dun campsite and enjoy a peaceful evening surrounded by Himalayan peaks.
Day 4: Har Ki Dun to Ruinsara Tal
Distance : 8–9 kms | Time : 5–6 hrs
Trek towards the beautiful Ruinsara Valley, crossing streams and lush grasslands. By afternoon, arrive at the stunning Ruinsara Tal Lake, one of the most scenic high-altitude lakes in Uttarakhand. Camp overnight near the lake.
Day 5: Ruinsara Tal to Bali Pass Base Camp
Distance : 6 kms | Time : 4–5 hrs
This is a shorter trek day, gradually ascending towards Bali Pass Base Camp. The landscape becomes more rugged with snowy patches and glacial surroundings. Rest well as the next day is the toughest.
Day 6: Summit Day – Cross Bali Pass & Descend to Yamunotri Side
Distance : 10–12 kms | Time : 10–12 hrs
The most challenging and exciting day of the trek. Start early before sunrise for the steep climb to Bali Pass (4,950m). The pass crossing involves snowfields and technical sections. From the top, witness breathtaking panoramic views of Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Black Peak. Descend carefully towards the Yamunotri side and camp overnight.
Day 7: Trek to Janki Chatti & Drive to Dehradun
Distance : 6 kms (Trek) + 180 kms (Drive) | Time : 8–9 hrs
Descend to Janki Chatti, the base of Yamunotri. After lunch, drive back towards Dehradun with unforgettable memories of the Bali Pass adventure.
