Begin your journey early in the morning from Rishikesh or Haridwar and drive towards Govindghat, the base point for the Valley of Flowers Trek. The route follows the scenic Alaknanda River and passes through famous confluences like Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Karnaprayag. Enjoy stunning mountain views, river valleys, and small Himalayan towns along the way. Reach Govindghat by evening, check-in to your hotel, attend a short briefing session (if with a group), and rest overnight.
Day 2: Govindghat to Ghangaria
Distance : 10 kms | Time : 5–6 hrs
After breakfast, start your trek from Govindghat to Ghangaria. The trail runs alongside the beautiful Pushpawati River, with waterfalls and green mountain slopes all around. The path is well-defined and gradually ascends through forests and small dhabas. You can also hire a mule or porter if required. Reach Ghangaria by afternoon, check-in to your guesthouse, and relax.
Day 3: Ghangaria to Valley of Flowers and Back
Distance : 8–10 kms | Time : 5–6 hrs
Today is the most exciting day of the trek. After an early breakfast, enter the Valley of Flowers National Park with your entry permit. Walk through wide alpine meadows filled with colorful wildflowers such as blue poppies, orchids, primulas, and cobra lilies (seasonal blooms). Snow-capped peaks, small streams, and glaciers add to the valley’s magical beauty. Spend a few hours exploring, photography, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings before returning to Ghangaria by evening.
Day 4: Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib and Back
Distance : 12 kms | Time : 6–7 hrs
Start early for the steep climb to Hemkund Sahib (4,329 meters), one of the highest Gurudwaras in the world. The trail is well-paved but steep, requiring good stamina.
