Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Rishikesh to Chopta

Distance : 200 kms | Time : (8–9 hrs)

 

Start your journey early in the morning from Rishikesh and enjoy a scenic drive to Chopta, the beautiful hill destination known as the Mini Switzerland of Uttarakhand. The route takes you through stunning mountain landscapes, river valleys, and charming towns of the Garhwal region. En route, you will pass through Devprayag, the holy confluence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers, followed by Rudraprayag and Ukhimath, offering mesmerizing views of terraced fields, pine forests, and distant snow-capped peaks. The final stretch to Chopta is especially refreshing, surrounded by dense forests and peaceful Himalayan meadows. Arrive in Chopta by late afternoon or evening, check-in to your campsite or guesthouse, enjoy a warm dinner, and relax overnight in the serene mountain atmosphere, preparing for the Tungnath trek the next day.

Wake up early in the morning in Chopta and begin your trek towards Tungnath Temple, the highest Shiva temple in the world. After breakfast, start the scenic uphill trail that passes through lush meadows, rhododendron forests, and offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks. Trek around 3.5 km to reach Tungnath, where you can spend some peaceful time at the temple. From here, continue another 1.5 km climb to the famous Chandrashila Summit, known for its stunning 360-degree panoramic views of Chaukhamba, Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Kedarnath peaks. Wake up early in the morning in Chopta and after breakfast, begin your drive towards Sari Village, the starting point for the beautiful Deoriya Tal trek. From Sari, trek around 3 km through forest trails and scenic village paths to reach the stunning Deoriya Tal Lake, famous for its crystal-clear reflections of Chaukhamba peaks. Spend some peaceful time at the lake, enjoying the serene surroundings and capturing memorable views. After descending back to Sari, continue your drive towards Rishikesh, passing through the scenic valleys and rivers of Uttarakhand. Arrive in Rishikesh by evening, marking the end of your unforgettable Chopta Tungnath Chandrashila trekking adventure.
