Kedarnath - Badrinath Yatra Itinerary

Day 1: Haridwar to Guptkashi / Sitapur

Distance  : 200 kms | Time : (8–9 hrs)

 

Start your adventure early in the morning from Dehradun and embark on a picturesque 190 km drive to Sankri. The route takes you through lush valleys, charming hill stations, and alongside rivers like Yamuna and Tons. En route, pass through scenic towns such as Mussoorie, Purola, and Mori. The final stretch through Govind National Park offers breathtaking views of the forests and foothills of the Himalayas. Arrive in Sankri by late afternoon or evening. Sankri is a quaint mountain village and the base for many treks in the region. Start your journey early in the morning from Haridwar and drive towards Guptkashi via Rishikesh. The route takes you through the sacred confluences of Devprayag (Alaknanda & Bhagirathi), Srinagar, and Rudraprayag (Alaknanda & Mandakini), offering beautiful views of rivers, valleys, and mountains. Begin your day early and drive to Gaurikund, the starting point of the Kedarnath trek. After necessary preparations, start your trek towards Kedarnath along the Mandakini River. The trail passes through Jungle Chatti, Bheembali, and Linchauli, offering stunning views of waterfalls, forests, and snow-capped peaks. The route is well-marked with rest stops and food stalls. Pony, palki, and helicopter options are also available. Reach Kedarnath by evening, check-in to your stay, and experience the divine atmosphere. Overnight stay near Kedarnath Temple.

After breakfast, begin your journey from Guptkashi to Joshimath, driving through some of the most scenic stretches of the Garhwal Himalayas. The route passes via Chopta, often called the “Mini Switzerland of India,” offering breathtaking views of lush meadows and dense forests. Continue your drive through Ukhimath, where the winter seat of Kedarnath is located, and enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks. Further ahead, pass through Chamoli and Pipalkoti while witnessing the beautiful Alaknanda River flowing alongside. Reach Joshimath by evening, check-in to your hotel, enjoy a warm meal, and relax overnight in this peaceful mountain town.
